The graduate students of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at UC Davis organized the 16th Annual Samuel Armistead Colloquium which was available in a hybrid format, with presenters and attendees virtual and in-person. The event is named in honor of Samuel Armistead, a pre-eminent ethnographer and linguist, particularly in Medieval Spanish studies, and professor emeritus of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
The topic this year aimed to showcase the different ways in which the digital and technological practices can, and/or have been reimagined to serve and shape fairer worlds.
We received submissions from graduate and undergraduate students working in areas related to the Hispanic and/or Luso-Brazilian Literatures, Cultures, Languages, and Linguistics. We had nine panels, an activity, a lecture and two keynote speakers.
It was a pleasure to gather all the exchange of ideas and research achievements of the different participants.
