Join us for a Series of Films by the Argentine Documentarian Andrés Di Tella

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese cordially invites the UC Davis community to a series of films by Argentine documentarian Andrés di Tella, offered in the context of Professor Lazzara’s graduate seminar on “Memory, Culture, and Human Rights.” The last film in the series (March 10th) will be followed by a live conversation with the filmmaker. His film 327 Cuadernos (327 Notebooks) (2015) is of special interest, since it is based on the diaries of Ricardo Piglia, who was a professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese during the 2000-2001 academic year. This series of film screenings is free and open to the public.

Andrés Di Tella is a filmmaker, writer, and curator, based in Buenos Aires. His films explore memory and autobiography in dialogue with recent Argentine history. They include Montoneros, una historia (1998), Hachazos (2011), ¡Volveremos a las montañas! (2012), 327 Cuadernos (2015), and Ficción Privada (2019). His works span video art, installations and performance pieces, as well as TV documentaries, and it explores the complex intersections of memory and first-person discourse. He has published two books: Hachazos and Cuadernos. He was the founding director of Bafici (Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival) and artistic director of the Princeton Documentary Festival at Princeton University.
