Shelley Dykstra

Position Title
Graduate Student in Spanish

724 Sproul Hall

I am originally from the Bay Area, so I’m happy to be studying what I love, Spanish Linguistics, and serving students so close to home. My experience teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language spans ten years and a variety of ages and topics. My research interests are second language and heritage language reading and writing, pedagogy, and critical language awareness. In my free time, I dance Bachata, a Latin dance from the Dominican Republic, make homemade ice cream and other sweets, take bike touring trips, or I stay in with a good book and my cat.
